汕頭職業技術學院是經廣東省人民政府批準，汕頭市人民政府主辦、主管，在原汕頭教育學院（含汕頭幼兒師范學校）、汕頭商業供銷學校、汕頭機電學校和汕頭市教師進修學校等院校合并的基礎上設立的的公立全日制普通高等學校。

    學院由院本部、金園校區、新津校區和東墩校區四個校區組成，占地1252畝。其中院本部位于風光秀麗的汕頭市濠江區東湖山麓，占地1056畝；金園校區位于汕頭市區金園路原汕頭教育學院和汕頭幼兒師范學校校址，占地56畝；新津校區位于汕頭市龍湖區外充公，占地115畝；東墩校區位于汕頭市黨校路8號，占地25畝。學院總建筑面積23.5萬平方米，教學、實驗實習設備總值約4841萬元，圖書藏量93萬冊。近三年畢業生就業率分別為92.66%、95.28%、97%。

    學院共開設57個大專專業（含方向）和10多個中職類專業。現有全日制大、中專在校生14119人；成人學歷大專生、聯合辦學的本科班學生1500多人。在編教職工725人，其中碩士以上學位者173人，具有副教授及以上專業技術職稱者133人，同時還聘請一批實踐經驗豐富的專家、高中級工程師為兼職教師。

學院設有計算機系、機電工程系、經濟管理系、自然科學系、人文社科系、外語系、藝術體育系、學前教育系、中專部、思想政治理論課教學部、成人教育部、中小學教師繼續教育中心、現代教育技術中心、圖書館、技能實訓中心等十五個教學、教輔部門。

    學院積極與國際先進教育接軌，現已與英國胡佛漢頓大學和澳大利亞巴拉瑞特大學簽訂了合作辦學協議，三年專科生畢業后可直接進入這兩所大學攻讀本科（一年）獲得學士學位，并可繼續攻讀碩士、博士學位。同時，學院還組織開展大學生暑期赴美國帶薪實習、旅行活動。此外，學院還與國內數所著名本科院校達成合作辦學協議，以利于學院畢業生在國內繼續深造。

創建以來，學院堅持以服務為宗旨，以就業為導向，以提高崗位能力為重點，以高技術應用型人才培養模式為基本特征，以推行全面職業素質教育和創業教育為個性化特色，樹立“以人為本、以職業素質培養為核心”的教育理念，按照“知行合一、德技雙馨”的校訓要求，高起點，嚴要求，強技能，重實踐，辦學規模不斷擴大，教學質量逐步提高，辦學效益初步顯現。

目前，學院已基本形成文、理、工、藝術和師范教育等學科門類齊備，大中專普通教育與成人教育并存，學歷教育與職業培訓共榮的辦學體系，學院的知名度不斷提高，發展規模和辦學質量已位于省內同類院校前列。

 

General Information About Shantou Polytechnic

Sponsored by Shantou Municipal Government, Shantou Polytechnic is a college ratified by Guangdong Provincial Government March 29, 2002, by merging Shantou College of Education (Shantou Preschool Normal School included), Shantou Commercial Supply and Marketing School, Shantou Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School and Shantou Teacher Training School.

  Shantou Polytechnic has four campuses: the Headquarter, which is located next to Donghu Mountain covering an area of 1252 mu(Chinese acre),Jinyuan Campus(56mu), located at the place where Shantou Education College and Shantou Preschool Normal School once lay, Xinjin Campus(115mu), at Waichonggong in Longhu district, and Dongdun Campus(25mu) at No.8 Party School Road. It has 235,000 square meters of building areas. The teaching and experimental facilities are worth about48,410,000yuan and the library has 930,000 books. In the past three years, the employment rate of graduated students reached a height of 92.66%, 95.28%, and 97%.

  It offers 57 majors(or orientations) for college students and more than 10 majors for secondary vocational students. Presently 14,119 full time students are studying at the college and there are more than 1,500 are grown-up students and undergraduate students studying in classes set by the college and its partners.  It currently has 725 staff, of whom 173 are holding master degree and doctoral degree and 133 are professors and associate professors. The college also employs experienced scholars and senior engineers as part-time teachers.

  The college has 15 departments and auxiliary units. They are: Department of Computer Sciences, Department of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering,Department of Economics and Management, Department of Natural Sciences, Department of Human & Social Sciences, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Arts & Physical Education, Department of Preschool Education, Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching, Secondary Specialized School, Department of Adult Education, Center for Further Education, Modern Educational Technology Center, Library, and Skills Practicing Center.

  It focuses mainly on full time degree-oriented education and also keeps an eye on adult education, further education and career training. During these years it has been playing an active role in joint ventures with international universities. By now it has signed an agreement with University of Wolverhampton to cooperate some programmes. That means that graduates of Shantou Polytechnic can enter University of Wolverhampton to further study for another year to get a bachelor degreeand can go on wth their programmes for Master’s degrees. or even Ph.D. The college also formed partnership with some famous universities in China for joint programmes.

  With service as its ultimate purpose and career training as its core, the college focuses mainly on students’ career capabilities. It cultivates hi-tec applied talents and specializes in carrying out comprehensive professional quality education and entrepreneurship education. It caters to the development of the local economy and serves the local society. It has been progressing and renovating to improve its standard and core competitiveness. Based in the east part of the province, its goal is to become a well known model vocational college with unique features in Guangdong.
